With all-new bicycles, there is a wear-in period (approximately 50-100 miles) where there will be various sounds and noises coming from different parts of the bike (including the disc brakes). This is completely normal and should go away as the bike is used.
However, if the disc brakes are excessively noisy and rub to the point where they stop the wheel within one or two rotations after you stop pedaling, then they may need to be adjusted. We recommend waiting until after the wear-in period to make your first adjustment unless the rubbing is severe.
Often when folding the bike, brake cable housing can pull out from the caliper and cause the brake to engage. Always check for proper brake tension after unfolding your ebike.
For brakes that squeal when coming to a stop, we recommend cleaning both sides of each rotor with isopropyl alcohol and a clean rag. Make sure PAS is off and always be extra careful while working around any moving parts. How do I choose the right electric bike for my needs?
Selecting the appropriate electric bike involves considering several factors, including your intended use, terrain, and personal preferences. For urban commuting, models with lightweight frames and foldable designs, such as the A2 and A3 Fold Ebikes, may be ideal. Conversely, if you plan to tackle rugged trails, look for bikes with robust construction and enhanced battery capacity.
Let's check one more time to see if your bike is ready to start.
First, make sure to charge the battery until the light on the charger turns green, indicating it is fully charged. This may take several hours.
Next, it's important to note that each model of bike is packaged specifically to prevent shipping damage and keep the electrical system intact. Depending on your model, there may be specific key locations required to turn the e-bike on, or certain cables may need to be plugged in. Be sure to watch our installation video tutorial to make sure you've followed all the steps for your model.
If it still won't start, contact a salesperson right away for technical support.
While each city and state varies regarding helmet laws and e-bike regulations, we strongly recommend that all riders wear a helmet.
You have not normally used and/or maintained the battery, and/or stored it for more than the maximum storage safety period of three months (the whole vehicle is plugged in and stored for more than one month, and the initial power for separate storage is less than 50% for more than three months). Failure to charge the battery properly causes under voltage of the battery feed, which cannot be repaired.
On average, an e-bike battery has a lifespan of 3 to 5 years, or 400 to 500 charging cycles. This lifespan is determined by a number of factors, such as how often and how fast the vehicle is ridden. Proactive maintenance can help extend the lifespan of your battery, such as storing it in a cool place, out of direct sunlight, and not leaving it unused for long periods of time.
Upon receipt of the shipment, please inspect it immediately for external damage. You must report any damage to the shipping company within 24 hours of receipt. The shipping company will issue you a Damage Report Acknowledgement. If you purchased from a FLYING FISH salesperson, please contact the salesperson or customer support at admin@flyingfishwh.com.
